RCMP arrest two suspects for stealing motorcycles in Kelowna

A pair of motorcycle thieves were arrested over two weeks ago by Kelowna RCMP officers.

Members of the detachment’s Target Team pulled the first suspect over on May 27 and noticed the bike had been freshly painted and confirmed it was stolen, according to an RCMP media release issued today, June 11.

The 35-year-old man riding the stolen bike was arrested, charged and released with a court date later this week.

The next morning, an officer with the same Target Team spotted a person starting a dirt bike in downtown Kelowna. It turns out the motorcycle had been recently stolen and the rider was stopped and arrested at a nearby home.

The suspect was released from custody and is facing charges.

“Our team specializes in identifying and locating stolen vehicles, including motorcycles,” Cpl. Guillaume Tanguay said in the release. “We have both the training and the necessary equipment to locate and safely apprehend those responsible for motor vehicle theft.”
