2 elderly siblings found dead are believed to have fallen

CONNELLSVILLE, Pa. – Two elderly siblings have been found dead in their Pennsylvania home during a welfare check, and police believe one fell while trying to help the other one up.

Police were asked to check on 87-year-old Henry Shirocky and his 82-year-old sister, Lucille, after a Meals on Wheels volunteer noticed that a previous meal was still sitting on their porch. Police found both siblings dead early Tuesday afternoon in their South Connellsville home.

Police believe Lucille Shirocky fell out of her wheelchair, and her brother also fell and became entangled with her while trying to help her up.

Police Chief Russell Miller says the deaths appear to be “just an unfortunate tragedy.”

Because of the unusual circumstances, the Fayette County coroner has ordered autopsies Wednesday.
