Tim Burke won’t be back next season as Winnipeg Blue Bombers head coach
WINNIPEG – Wade Miller is wasting no time making his first decision as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ full-time chief executive officer and president.
Miller, who accepted the appointment Monday, says that Tim Burke won’t be back in 2014 as the CFL club’s head coach.
Burke joined the Bombers as their defensive co-ordinator prior to the 2011 season and took over as interim head coach in August 2011 after Paul LaPolice was fired.
Burke was named Winnipeg’s full-time head coach last November.
Miller’s decision wasn’t a surprise as Winnipeg missed the playoffs this season after posting a league-worst 3-15 record.
Winnipeg’s full-time general manager will decide on Burke’s successor.
Assistant general manager Kyle Walters has been handling the GM duties on an interim basis since Joe Mack was fired last August.
