2 teens shot by officers on Interstate ramp in Atlanta

ATLANTA – Authorities say officers shot two teenagers after a vehicle carrying the suspects tried to escape police by ramming into a patrol car on an interstate ramp in Atlanta.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Nelly Miles said in a news release Sunday officers noticed one vehicle was reported stolen and the other had plates that belong to another vehicle during a patrol Saturday evening.

Miles says one of the vehicles occupied by 18-year-old Michael Rhodes and 19-year-old Deondre Norris nearly struck an officer, but hit a patrol vehicle. Miles says four officers shot at the vehicle, striking Rhodes and Norris.

Miles says Rhodes and Norris fled on foot, but were later captured. Both are in stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital. No officers were injured.

Miles says the two other juveniles in the other vehicle were arrested.
