Accused in east Kamloops murder ordered to stand trial
KAMLOOPS – A Kamloops man will stand trial in Supreme Court on a charge of murder in connection to the death of a 26-year-old man last year.
The preliminary inquiry for 57-year-old Stephen George Fraser ended earlier today, Jan. 25, one day earlier than anticipated.
According to court documents, Kamloops Provincial Court Judge Stella Frame handed down her decision today, and has ordered Fraser to stand trial in Supreme Court.
A preliminary inquiry is held to determine whether or not Crown has sufficient evidence to proceed to trial.
A trial date has not yet been set for Fraser and it's not known if he has chosen to be tried by a Supreme Court Justice alone, or by a jury.
Details of the preliminary inquiry are bound by a court-ordered publication ban, and circumstances surrounding the alleged offence have not yet been made public.
Police said in February of last year that they responded to a report of a disturbance in the 9000 block of Dallas Drive and found 26-year-old Cody Allan Foster deceased. There was a large police presence at an RV Park in the area and one trailer was taped off.
Fraser was charged with murder one day later. The allegations against him have not been proven in court.
