Woodfibre LNG moves ahead with BC’s first LNG project

SQUAMISH, B.C. – British Columbia-based oil and gas company Woodfibre LNG says it is proceeding with a proposed liquefied natural gas development in what would be the province’s first such project.

B.C. Premier Christy Clark said Friday that the development will create 650 jobs during construction and 100 operational jobs over its estimated lifespan of 25 years.

Woodfibre is part of the Pacific Oil & Gas Ltd. group of companies, which is controlled by billionaire Indonesian business mogul Sukanto Tonato.

Woodfibre LNG is licensed to export about 2.1 million tons of liquefied natural gas annually.

There are approximately 20 liquified natural gas proposals in B.C. on the drawing board.
