London exhibit celebrates fashionista Isabella Blow, late British stylist, McQueen promoter
LONDON – A major exhibition is opening in London to celebrate the life and style of Isabella Blow, the eccentric British fashion editor and stylist best remembered for her bold outfits, outlandish hats and patronage of designer Alexander McQueen.
The show at Somerset House features Blow’s personal collection of over 100 designer garments, including some of McQueen’s earliest designs and many of British milliner Philip Treacy’s most dramatic hats.
Before Blow committed suicide in 2007 at age 48, she was one of the most influential personalities in fashion. She is widely credited for discovering McQueen at his graduate fashion show, buying up his entire collection and then promoting him long before he became an international figure.
The exhibition opens Wednesday and runs until March 2.
