Authentic Brands Group buys Elvis Presley’s intellectual property, rights to operate Graceland

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Authentic Brands Group says it has bought Elvis Presley’s intellectual property and the right to operate the Graceland tourist attraction from CORE Media Group.

Authentic Brands said Tuesday the purchase gives the company the rights to Presley’s image, name and likeness, in addition to the massive collection of photos, movies, television appearances and music specials featuring the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

A purchase price was not disclosed.

As part of the deal, National Entertainment Collectibles Association founder Joel Weinshanker acquires the management rights of Graceland, the tourist attraction centred around Presley’s longtime Memphis home.

Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, says she will continue to own Graceland and the original artifacts.

Authentic Brands Group is a New York-based intellectual property corporation that manages brands including Marilyn Monroe and Muhammad Ali.
