Host Riders win one key battle: protecting dressing room for Grey Cup

REGINA – They’re the favourites as Grey Cup hosts and shouldering the weight of expectation of an entire province.

But at least the Saskatchewan Roughriders have won a key battle.

Saskatchewan’s Corey Chamblin told reporters Wednesday during the Grey Cup coaches conference the biggest obstacle his club faced this year was protecting its dressing room and ensuring no other West rival used it to prepare for the CFL title game.

Saskatchewan secured home-field advantage for the Grey Cup with a 35-13 road win over Calgary last weekend in the West final.

The Riders host the East Division-champion Hamilton Tigert-Cats in the Grey Cup on Sunday at Mosaic Stadium.

Saskatchewan will attempt to become the third straight team to win the Grey Cup on home soil.

B.C. did it in 2011 before Toronto followed suit last year.
