Canadian rock icons to headline Peachfest this summer

PENTICTON – The Penticton Peach Festival’s nightly entertainment lineup will have a pair of iconic Canadian bands this summer.

Kim Mitchell and April Wine will be performing at this year's edition. 

Peachfest will run from Aug. 8 to Aug. 12 this summer.

Okanagan celtic band Cod Gone Wild will open for Kim Mitchell on Wednesday, Aug. 8, while Heroes of Rock ’n Roll will open for legendary rockers April Wine the next night, Thursday, Aug. 9.

The Friday night line up includes three tribute bands, with Petty Fever, Eagle Eyes and the Okanagan’s own High Voltage, an AC/DC tribute band.

Saturday’s nighttime performances will be headlined by Canadian country artist George Canyon on an eveing that will include performances from Penticton’s Beamer Wigley Band and Lion, Bear and Fox.

On Sunday, Aug. 12, the final day of Peachfest, The Country Divas and Madeline Merlo perform.

The Canadian Forces SkyHawks are returning to the 2018 Peachfest following their successful debut last year.

Peachfest president Don Kendall says the precision parachute team enjoyed their jump last year in Penticton, which was also well received by Peachfest attendees. The SkyHawks will perform on Aug. 8.

Also returning is the Mega Motocross event, which will be held on Aug. 9, Aug. 10 and Aug. 11.

Last year’s event attracted an estimated 80,000 people, Kendall says.
