Kelowna man allegedly driving stolen car arrested for theft and weapons

KELOWNA – It started with a mounty locating a stolen car outside a Bernard Avenue residence Wednesday night and ended with the arrest of a Kelowna man who faces a number of potential theft and weapons charges.

A Kelowna RCMP officer was patrolling a known problem residence in the 700 block of Bernard Avenue at around 11:40 p.m. Oct. 22 when he saw the vehicle behind the building, according to a media release. The 46-year-old driver was arrested without incident for possession of stolen property. 

Police say when they searched the man for weapons, they found a spring-loaded knife, commonly referred to as a switchblade.

The man faces potential charges of possession of stolen property, possession of a prohibited weapon and driving while prohibited. He was released to appear in court at a later date.
