Actress Kim Cattrall tweets that missing brother Christopher is dead

LACOMBE, Alta. – "Sex and the City" star Kim Cattrall says on social media that her brother Chris has died.

The actress tweeted Sunday afternoon that she and her family were announcing the "unexpected passing" of Christopher Cattrall, who police in Alberta had said was missing.

Cattrall says her family is asking for privacy, while also expressing gratitude to those on social media for their "outpouring of love and support in this trying time."

RCMP had said the 55-year-old was last heard from on Tuesday, and was believed to have been at his home on a rural property in Lacombe, Alta., at the time.

Police now say in a news release that Cattrall's body has been found on that property, and that preliminary information indicates his death is not suspicious.

Kim Cattrall had said in an earlier Instagram post that her brother's keys, cellphone and wallet were left on a table in the house, and his front door was unlocked and his seven dogs were left alone.

Police did not confirm those details.
