Boy, 2, killed, mother injured when vehicle hits pair in mall parking lot

PITT MEADOWS, B.C. – A two-year-old boy is dead and his mother is injured after they were hit by a vehicle in a mall parking lot in Pitt Meadows, B.C.

Police and ambulance were called to attend the accident at the Meadow Town Shopping Centre Friday morning.

Paramedics preformed CPR on the boy, but he was pronounced dead a short time later at Ridge Meadows Hospital.

RCMP Sergeant Dale Somerville says officers are interviewing witnesses to the tragic incident.

The driver remained at the scene and is co-operating with investigators.

A cause for the death hasn’t been determined.
