Vernon Mounties looked for—but rarely found—much trouble on New Year's Eve.
RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says police set up road blocks through the night in several areas of the city. Other than two 90-day impoundments for alcohol and 11 people taken to cells for fights and liquor-related offences, he said it was a pretty clear night.
"All in all it was a very good New Year's in the Vernon North Okanagan Detachment area," he says.
Some of those checks were at Silver Star for the fireworks, where only a few people were asked to dump their drinks.
"Silver Star was a very quiet place to be after the fireworks," he says. "Our officers reported no arrests and everyone seemed to be having a great time."
