Vancouver Whitecaps open 2014 season at home; Toronto and Montreal open on road

NEW YORK, United Nations – The Vancouver Whitecaps will kick off their fourth Major League Soccer season at home, while Toronto FC and the Montreal Impact both open on the road.

The Whitecaps host the New York Red Bulls on March 8, which is opening day of the 2014 MLS season. Montreal plays that day at Dallas FC.

Toronto plays its season opener March 15 at Seattle and its first home game March 22 against D.C. United.

The Impact’s first home game is also March 22, versus the Seattle Sounders.

The 2014 regular season concludes Oct. 26, followed by the MLS Cup Playoffs.

The MLS will take a two-week break — starting June 11 — during the group phase of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Each team plays a 34-match schedule, with 17 games at home and 17 on the road.
