Commuters walk through tunnel when Boston subway loses power

BOSTON – Hundreds of commuters in Boston had to walk through tunnels under the city after one of the city’s subway lines lost power.

A spokesman for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority says about 350 passengers were escorted out of a Blue Line tunnel on Thursday morning by transit police and city firefighters.

None of the passengers requested medical attention.

The T offered shuttle buses between affected stations.

Power was restored and the regular service resumed just before 11 a.m.

Affected commuter Casey Billings wrote on Twitter that the power outage was “not all that fun but everyone remained calm and collected.”
