New non-stop flight from Kelowna to LA begins this winter

You’ll be able to fly from Kelowna directly to Los Angeles this winter.

Alaska Airlines has announced it will start a daily, non-stop seasonal service from the Kelowna airport to LAX beginning on Dec. 19, according to a City of Kelowna media release.

Alaska Airlines has also offered flights from Kelowna to Seattle and those are expected to resume this fall.

“This new direct destination will provide benefits to our entire community," Kelowna Mayor Tom Dyas said in the release.

"From improving the ability for more tourists to access all the Okanagan has to offer like world-class skiing and rich cultural experiences, to providing our residents a link to LA and connecting destinations, to improved access for those travelling through the United States for business purposes.”

The route will be daily except from Jan. 6 to Feb. 12 when it will operate Thursday to Monday with no flights on Tuesday and Wednesday.
