Power problem cancels World Cup men’s downhill training at Lake Louise

LAKE LOUISE, Alta. – World Cup men’s downhill training was cancelled at Lake Louise because of a loss of power to one of the chairlifts.

The lift takes racers to the start hut.

The time it took to repair didn’t leave enough time to get 91 competitors from the top to the bottom, although they were able to free ski the lower sections of the course.

Canada’s Erik Guay was fastest in the first training run Wednesday.

Another training run is scheduled for Friday.

The season-opening downhill is Saturday followed by Sunday’s super-G.
