UPDATE: Sagmoen now accused of using spikes to damage vehicle tires

VERNON – Silver Creek resident Curtis Sagmoen appeared in court today on a new charge of causing mischief under $5,000.

Sagmoen, 37, appeared in Vernon Provincial Court this morning on the charge, which was laid Feb. 8, according to court documents. Sagmoen is alleged to have committed the offence on July 19, 2017 at or near Falkland.

According to court documents, Sagmoen committed mischief by "willfully placing spikes or nails on a board or spikebelt to damage the tires of a motor vehicle."

A comment from RCMP about the new charge was not immediately available Thursday morning. In court Thursday morning, the matter was adjourned to a future date.

Sagmoen is already facing multiple charges against multiple women. The Silver Creek man allegedly threatened one escort with a gun and assaulted two others on separate occasions. An iNFOnews.ca exclusive report revealed yet another woman attended the area after receiving an inquiry on her backpage.ca ad. She wasn’t assaulted, but fled fearing for her life.

Sagmoen is currently in custody, but court documents list 2290 Salmon River Road as his residence. That property was the subject of a massive police search in late 2017, and the location where missing Vernon teen Traci Genereaux’s remains were discovered. No charges have been laid in her suspicious death and police have not named any suspects.

Sagmoen was initially charged with a seven count indictment related to an Aug. 27 threats with a firearm case, however an updated document shows that has been corrected. He is now only facing five charges, including: disguising face with intent to commit an offence, recklessly discharging a firearm, uttering a threat to cause death or bodily harm while using a .410 shotgun, uttering threats, and possession of methamphetamine. On a separate indictment, laid a few weeks ago, after more women came forward, Sagmoen is charged with the assault of an escort from May 27, 2017 to Sept. 1, 2017, and assault causing bodily harm of another escort on Aug. 10, 2017.

None of the allegations against Sagmoen have been proven in court.

Police said in a Jan. 31 press release they believe there are other victims and witnesses to similar incidents and urge anyone with information to contact the RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit tip line at 1-877-987-8477.
