Water advisory in place at Reiswig regional park

Reiswig regional park in Lake Country has been closed to swimming due to high E.coli counts.

Recommendations from Interior Health advisory suggests residents follow posted notices about recreational water activities due to E.coli found in water samples, according to a release and "and not to swim or engage in water-related recreational activities until further notice."

With the old and young being most vulnerable with weakened immune systems, ingesting the water can lead to gastrointestinal illnesses, rashes or symptoms of the ear and throat.

While beach water quality is typically poorer in the summer due to the warm weather, other outstanding factors can affect bacteria in the water, including waterfowl and animal waste, current runoffs, outflow of creeks and changing environmental factors.
