Suspect flees after stabbing in Vernon’s Polson Park

VERNON – RCMP are investigating a stabbing in Vernon's Polson Park.

At roughly 6:30 a.m. today, Feb. 16, Vernon RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing on the northwest side of the park, according to a media release from Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett.

When officers arrived, they located a man suffering from what appeared to be a single stab wound to the chest, Brett says. He was taken to the nearest medical facility, where he's in stable condition.

Police are searching for the male suspect, who fled on a bike and has not been located.

"The suspect and victim are believed to be known to one another. This is not a random attack," Brett says. "Forensic investigators are currently on scene and residents are asked to stay clear of the northwest side of the park to allow RCMP officers to conduct their investigation."
