Homicide investigation underway after body found in Vernon

RCMP have launched a homicide investigation after a suspicious death in Vernon.

A body was found by a member of the public in the city’s Bella Vista area near Okanagan Hills Boulevard at around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, according to an RCMP media release.

“We’re in the very early stages of our investigation at this time, but the death has been deemed suspicious and is being investigated as a homicide,” Vernon RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski said in a media release.

The serious crimes unit was taken over the investigation.

They want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed a person or vehicle parked or stopped around the hairpin turn on Okanagan Hills Boulevard the morning of Monday, Aug. 19, and 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20.

No other information is being released at this time, RCMP said.

Anyone who may have dash cam footage or information that could assist with the investigation is asked to contact the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 and quote file # 2024-14152.
