TV Blog Buzz: Finding a new show to binge on, ‘Rick and Morty’ pilot now online

Before “Community” fans got their wish and creator Dan Harmon was reinstated as the creative leader of the series, they were looking ahead to his new sci-fi cartoon “Rick and Morty,” which is due to air on the Cartoon Network. The show’s pilot is now available to watch online. It’s based around the adventures of young Morty and his alcoholic grandfather Rick. The show’s voice actors include Chris Parnell (“Saturday Night Live”) and Canadian Sarah Chalke (“Scrubs,” “Roseanne”). http://bit.ly/Iw7Axh

Technically the story was aimed at Americans for their Thanksgiving weekend, but the A.V. Club’s list of older shows worth revisiting and binging on is universal. They’ve chosen 33 shows to highlight including older series like “Bewitched” and “The Many Loves Of Dobie Gillis,” shows from a couple of decades back including “Coupling” and “Six Feet Under,” as well as under-the-radar series from a few years past like “Deadwood,” “The Thick Of It” and “Black Books.” http://avc.lu/1eGuduB

It’s been 15 years since the last new episode aired, but the web still seems to be obsessed with “Seinfeld.” Parody Twitter accounts were huge successes this year, including @SeinfeldToday, which posts imagined story lines of what Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer would be doing in 2013 (“Elaine Instagrams other people’s photos to seem cool. A cute guy falls for Instagram Elaine but real Elaine can’t live up to her fake life” is a recent post). Then came @Seinfeld2000, which riffs on the same concept with an ironically illiterate and nonsensical approach to the trend (“Whole epsode Elane close hundreds of tabs she have open in firefox” was one popular tweet). For some, it’s difficult to imagine how the account has generated about 25,000 followers, while others can’t get enough. For those who enjoy the humour, @Seinfeld2000 — who has remained anonymous in interviews but is believed to be Canadian — has posted a video for Arcade Fire’s “Here Comes the Night” spliced with scenes from “Seinfeld.” The new song is the soundtrack for a condensed version of the “Seinfeld” episode in which George’s fiancee Susan dies. http://bit.ly/1b8JjUM
