Penticton’s Pattison Sign Group facility announces closure

PENTICTON – Pattison Sign Group is closing its Penticton operation due to changing market conditions that have resulted in the company’s need to restructure.

Part of the restructuring effort includes plans to close the Penticton plant, located at 165 Waterloo Ave on April 15, affecting 58 employees who will lose their jobs.

President Don Belanger said in a statement issued late last week the company made some tough decisions that will affect several locations. He said changing market forces are impacting the industry, and the restructuring is expected to make the company stronger, leaner and more adaptable.

“This was not an easy decision to make and it weighed heavily on everyone involved in the strategic planning process. We are refocusing our resources and priorities to be more strategic and effective as we continue,” Belanger said in his statement, adding a range of resources have been put in place to support the staff affected.

City of Penticton developments services manager Anthony Haddad called Pattison's decision "unfortunate," saying the company had been a fantastic fit in the city's industrial area.

"It's going to impact us short term. They have been a valued employer in the community," he said, adding the city would be reaching out to the company and the employees  to see if they can assist.
