Kamloops drivers should expect delays on Highway 1 starting next week

KAMLOOPS – Drivers in Kamloops can expect delays next week at the Highway 1 Sagebrush overpass.

Rehabilitation work is being conducted on the westbound side of the overpass on Highway 1, between the Summit Drive exit and Columbia Street on-ramp, according to a news release from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

So long as weather permits, work will begin next Monday, March 5, and is expected to take four weeks. During that time, one westbound lane on Highway 1 will be closed.

The project has been planned to minimize delays as much as possible, the ministry states, but drivers are advised to allow extra time to get to their destination during the construction period.

The bridge joints on the overpass will be replaced to keep the structure in good condition, the ministry says, adding the project will involve pouring new concrete so motorists may not see crews on site while the concrete is curing.
