Convicted killer Foerster back in court for sex worker assault and home invasion charges
KELOWNA – A lawyer for the man convicted of murdering Taylor Van Diest will be back in Kelowna court Friday to deal with a pair of unrelated charges.
Matthew Foerster will either enter a guilty plea or fix a date for trial relating to incidents which took place in 2004 and 2005, according to Crown prosecutors.
On Friday, October 31 Foerster’s lawyer will appear before a judge in Kelowna where he will seek to move the hearing to Provincial Court. Crown lawyer Iain Currie says he could either plead guilty to the remaining charges or elect to go to trial.
He faces numerous charges including unlawful confinement, uttering threats, assault causing bodily harm, attempting to choke to overcome resistance and sexual assault using a weapon.
Foerster was convicted of first degree murder in April for killing Taylor Van Diest on Halloween night of 2011. He is currently appealing the murder conviction for which he was sentenced to life in prison.
