Knights slay Kelowna Chiefs on home ice

KELOWNA – Rutland’s very own Kelowna Chiefs were defeated on home ice Saturday night.

The Chiefs suffered a 2 – 1 overtime loss at the hands of the North Okanagan Knights.

The game was scoreless until the second period when Jagger Bowls scored his eighth goal of the season.  Alex Gran had the assist.

Connor DeMelo was unstoppable between the pipes and it wasn’t until the third period that North Okanagan was able to get on the board, forcing overtime.

Then at 2:57 in the extra period, Tanner Burns scored making the game 2 – 1 in favour of the Knights.

DeMelo faced 30 shots on goal and rounds out the Top 10 KIJHL Goalie Leaders List with at .932 SV%.

The loss keeps Kelowna in second place of the Okanagan Division with 11 points, just two behind the first place Knights.

The Kelowna Chiefs are back in action on Friday October 11th for a road game in Summerland.  Their next home game is Tuesday October 15th against the Princeton Posse.
