Dump of snow expected on Coquihalla, Connector tonight

More snow is on the way for high elevation highways in the Interior with a snowfall warning issued.

Environment Canada is warning up to 15 centimetres of snow could fall on the Coquihalla Highway from Merritt to Hope, the Okanagan Connector from Kelowna to Merritt and Highway 3 from Princeton to Hope via Allison Pass.

Forecasters say a low pressure system is spreading a band of heavy snow to these highways this evening, March 2, before it tapers off overnight.

Drive B.C. has also issued a travel advisory for the Merritt to Hope section of Highway 5 thanks to the heavy snowfall that is creating visitibilty problems between Portia Interchange and Kingsvale.

Extreme caution on the highway is advised.
