Snow expected on highway summits

THOMPSON-OKANAGAN – The Okanagan Connector and Highway 3 could see up to eight centimetres of the cold white stuff by tomorrow morning as a cold front moves across Southern B.C.

Environment Canada is warning the snow level will lower to 1,300 metres near the Pennask Summit and the Kootenay Pass this morning. The Coquihalla Summit, Allison Pass and Rogers Pass are expected to see rain much of the day, which could turn to wet flurries overnight.

Rain is also expected at lower levels over the next couple days as well-the forecast calls for a 30-40 per cent chance of rain over the entire region today and a 60-100 per cent chance tomorrow morning in Kelowna and Penticton.

The system will also bring higher winds to Kamloops and Penticton, where it is expected to gust up to 50 kilometres per hour by this afternoon before becoming light overnight. Temperatures will stay around the seasonal normals of 14-16 Celsius in the urban centres of the region before dropping to just below normal later this week.
