KELOWNA – The owners of a Leckie Place business have a lot of work to do after an overnight fire but at least the business is standing.
Platoon Capt. Laurie Serres says the fire started at 12:44 this morning at Westwood Manufacturing. They found smoke coming from the building and alarms ringing but no open flame. Firefighters dug through to the attice and found the source of the fire but most of the damage was done—by the sprinkler system. It prevented the fire from spreading but caused part of the ceiling to collapse, dropping gyproc, insulation, and water onto the wood and cabinet product below the collapse and caused 'significant water damage' to the 54,000 square foot building.
The fire cause is under investigation and by the time Kelowna Fire Department left the scene, a restoration company started the cleanup of the manufacturer floor of all the standing water.

having a building to clean up?
good thing there was a sprinkler system to clean up after. Otherwise they would have to rebuild.
