Ridell throws 4 TD passes, Holmes, Saydee have big ground games, Gardner-Webb tops Lindenwood 42-35

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) — Tyler Ridell threw four touchdown passes, Quasean Holmes and Edward Saydee both ran for more than 100 yards with a touchdown and Gardner-Webb held off Lindenwood 42-35 on Saturday.

Holmes, who had 156 yards on 26 carries, scored on a 17-yard run late in the third quarter to put the Runnin’ Bulldogs (2-5, 1-2 Big South-OVC) on top 42-21.

The Lions (3-5, 1-3) rallied and made it a one-score game on a 23-yard pass from Nate Glantz to Drew Krobath with a half-minute left. Jordan Bly, who had two touchdown receptions, recovered the onside kick attempt to seal the win.

Ridell was 16-of-21 passing for 185 yards. His touchdown plays covered 3 yards to Anthony Lowell, 19 and 26 yards to Bly for a 28-14 halftime lead and 11 yards to Taylor Shields. Saydee had a 13-yard TD run and finished with 116 yards on 15 carries.

Glantz was 12 of 27 for 244 yards and three scores. Jeff Caldwell had six catches for 174 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown to open the second half.
