UPDATE: Flooding in West Kelowna closes Lower Glenrosa Road

WEST KELOWNA – A portion of Lower Glenrosa Road will remain closed until at least Monday after heavy rain yesterday caused flooding and a washout.

Lower Glenrosa Road is closed between Glencoe Road and Glenway Road, according to a City of West Kelowna media release. Glenrosa Road is the alternate route.

Transit service in the area is also impacted. Riders can access Route 21 via Webber Road. Pedestrians are advised to stay way from the flooded area while the situation is assessed.

The city did an assessment of the damaged road and began repairs today, March 23, and will continue through the weekend. A section of the road was compromised due to erosion and a utility pole was impacted.

"Repair work includes removing accumulated debris, rebuilding compromised road structure and stabilizing the critical utility pole," city spokesperson Kirsten Jones says in the release. "Repairs are expected to take until at least Monday."
