Kelowna born actor cast in second season of True Detective

KELOWNA – From Snakes on a Plane to Friday Night Lights, Kelowna-born actor Taylor Kitsch has been making his mark in Hollywood for a number of years, but it is his latest role that could really set him apart.

In an interview this week Kitsch, 33, said he will play a recurring lead character on the second season of HBO’s True Detective opposite Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn.

Born in Kelowna in 1981, Kitsch grew up in Vancouver where he still lives when not on set.

Best known for his role as football player Tim Riggins on the TV series Friday Night Lights, Kitsch was named one of Rolling Stone’s Hot 100 in 2009 and Variety Magazine listed him as one of ten actors to watch in 2011.

A former BCHL hockey player for the Langley Hornets, Kitsch is also a professional model who has worked for Abercrombie & Fitch and Diesel. According to his bio on IMDB, he is also the youngest ever cover model featured in Men’s Health magazine.

Kitsch can be seen in feature films like Gospel Hill, John Tucker Must Die, Battleship, John Carter and The Covenant. He also played Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
