Kelowna Flightcraft plane narrowly misses snowplows
A Kelowna Flightcraft Boeing 727 was involved in a near collision with two snowplows at the Hamilton International Airport March 19.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has deployed two investigators to figure out what happened.
Kelowna Flightcraft offers air courier service for Canada Post and Purolator Courier Ltd., scheduling regular flights out of Kelowna and Hamilton.
The safety board says runway collisions and near misses do happen on occasion.
The Hamilton incident happened just days after an Air Canada flight narrowly missed a driverless van that rolled out onto the runway at Pearson International Airport in Toronto. On Feb. 13, 1978, a Pacific Western Boeing 737, unable to dodge a snowplow while attempting to land during a snowstorm in Cranbrook went up in flames killing 41 and leaving 7 survivors.
