RCMP ask for help in identifying man suspected in violent store robbery

SURREY, B.C. – Police in Surrey, B.C., are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man caught on video violently kicking two staff members during a convenience-store robbery.

RCMP released surveillance video showing the man kicking and shoving two women in their 50s behind the counter before he rifles through drawers for cigarette packages and stuffs them in a plastic bag.

Police say the man, who is seen wearing a black hoodie with the word Brooklyn emblazoned on the front, browsed the aisles until customers left the store.

He then rushed behind the counter and pushed the two women to the ground, threatening them and kicking one of them, breaking her nose, before demanding cash and running from the store.

Mounties say the women are recovering from their injuries but are shaken up by the ordeal on the afternoon of Nov. 23.

RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet says police are concerned about the level of violence against two people who were just doing their job.
