WINNIPEG – A Manitoba woman who is accused of impersonating and duping a professional basketball player is facing more charges.

RCMP say there are 13 new charges of personation and fraud against Shelly Lynn Chartier of Easterville.

Chartier had already been charged with possession and transmission of child pornography, extortion and uttering threats in a case involving Chris Andersen of the NBA Miami Heat.

Andersen’s lawyer alleges his client was the victim of a wide-ranging Internet hoax that resulted in a raid of Andersen’s home.

Working in co-operation with the Colorado police department, RCMP say they are laying more charges involving 11 other people police allege have been impersonated and defrauded.

RCMP say details of the case are covered by a publication ban and no further information will be released.
