KAMLOOPS – A Kamloops man accused of stabbing a family friend to death at a party downtown Kamloops last year is expected to stand trial Oct. 28.

Jury selection was completed this week in Kamloops for Torbin Alec, charged with second degree murder following the death of Jesse Seymour.

Seymour died in hospital after he was stabbed at a Columbia Street home, July 2012.

Kamloops lawyer Rob Bruneau has been assigned to the case as a special prosecutor due to potential conflicts between the victims family and the Crown office. The trial is expected to take two to three weeks.
