Massive boulders tumble across Yellowhead Highway, cutting traffic for hours

BLUE RIVER, B.C. – Traffic slowly beginning to move past a rock slide that severed a major highway in southeastern B.C., last Thursday.
One Edmonton-based trucker says boulders as big as pickup trucks tumbled across Highway 5, the Yellowhead Highway, about 13 kilometres south of Blue River.
The route is a major link between southcentral British Columbia and Alberta.
Travellers were stalled on both sides of the slide, about 200 kilometres northeast of Kamloops, overnight but a geo-technical engineer assessed the rock face early Friday morning.
Single-lane, alternating traffic began moving shortly afterward. (CHNL)
