High water level on BX Creek forces trail closures in Vernon

VERNON – Spring runoff is underway and rising water levels in BX Creek have the regional district closing a couple trails.

The BX Creek Trail behind the BX Dog Park and the BX Creek Falls trail at Tillicum and Silver Star Roads have been temporarily closed, according to a Regional District North Okanagan media release.

The district says both trails aren’t save due to the high water level hazards, plus they are no longer accessible.

“Our staff are monitoring water levels regularly, and will update the public when the trail and park are accessible and safe to use,” parks manager Keith Pinkoski says in the release. “We really just want to make sure everyone is aware of what is happening to ensure the safety of the residents, and their pets.”

Signs have been posted at the closed sections of BX Creek Falls trail and signs will be going up next week at the BX Dog Park.
