Support for Humboldt in the Okanagan going strong on Jersey Day
OKANAGAN – Hockey sticks are already out across the Okanagan showing support for the tragedy in Humboldt, but residents up and down the valley are posting photos of themselves wearing jerseys to honour those killed and injured last week.
Last Friday, April 6, the Humboldt Broncos were headed for a playoff game on their team bus when it collided with a semi-truck near Tisdale, Sask.
Fourteen members of the team, including the head coach, bus driver and team captain, were killed with two more dying in hospital since.
The tragedy has shaken the hockey-loving country, with many Okanagan residents wearing sports jerseys today, April 12, to show their support for the families of the victims.
Great to join so many in #Summerland, the #Okanagan and right across the country to show support for @HumboldtBroncos by wearing #jerseysforhumboldt. This is Canada, we play together and we grieve together. #humboltstrong pic.twitter.com/R8izooktyk

Many sticks lean outside the Rockets dressing room to accompany the green candle burning in memory of those we tragically lost as we continue to mourn and as we keep all of those affected in our thoughts and in our hearts #Humboldtstrong #PrayersForHumboldt ???? pic.twitter.com/ME8VdrnkNN
