Accused in Langara College arson faces additional charges at court appearance
VANCOUVER – A man accused of arson at a Vancouver college is facing two additional charges of robbery and assault.
Nasradin Abdusamad Ali made a brief appearance in provincial court on Friday.
The 23-year-old was previously charged with one count of arson in relation to inhabited property and one count of possession of incendiary material.
Langara College was closed earlier this week after police say at least two incendiary devices detonated at the school, causing fires.
Police say the additional charges relate to incidents alleged to have happened before the fires at the school on Monday.
The assault charge stems from an alleged physical altercation on the campus of the college on March 7, police said in a statement.
On March 26, police allege another Langara student was robbed near a bus stop about three kilometres off campus.
A bail hearing is scheduled for April 10.
