Heavy rainfall closes Kamloops sport fields

KAMLOOPS – City officials have announced all sport fields are closed until further notice due to the weather.

Parks and Civic Facilities manager Jeff Putnam says the closure today, April 16, is to ensure public safety and to protect the turf from possible damage.

“With the recent heavy rainfall and use last weekend, parks staff have inspected and assessed the condition of city fields and have determined that all city sports fields will be closed as of this afternoon,” Putnam says in a news release.

City officials will inspect the fields tomorrow morning, April 17, and will have an update on the conditions by noon.

As for now the only sports field that remains open is the artificial field at Hillside Stadium.
