Police say man shot in restaurant was targeted but gang connections unknown

BURNABY, B.C. – RCMP say a man who was shot in a Burnaby, B.C., restaurant was targeted but they don’t know yet if there are any gang connections.

Sgt. Peter Thiessen says the victim was seated with several other males and received non-life threatening injuries.

He says other people were in the restaurant, and it’s fortunate nobody was hurt.

The injured man is in his 30s and was transported to hospital.

Thiessen says witnesses reported seeing a male suspect flee the area, near a busy mall.

Police are calling on anyone with information to contact them.
