Downtown Penticton intersection to close as revitalization project moves forward
PENTICTON – A major downtown intersection in Penticton is slated for closure as the downtown revitalization project enters a new phase in construction.
The city is advising motorists the intersection of Wade Avenue and Main Street will be closed from April 23 to May 20 as work progresses on the installation of sanitary sewers, electrical, water mains, traffic signals, pavers and concrete ramps.
“The city wishes to thank motorists, cyclists and pedestrians in advance for their patience while this next phase of the project is carried out,” design supervisor Tyler Figgitt says in a media release.
A temporary turn around route will be opened along the length of the block to assist patrons in accessing businesses in the 400 block.
The closure will result in the following bus stops out of service:
- Route #1 – The bus stop on Winnipeg Street just north of Wade Avenue and the stop on Wade Avenue between Martin Street and Main Street.
- Route #3 – The bus stops west of Ellis Street on Nanaimo Avenue, Winnipeg Street and Wade Avenue.
- Route #10 – The bus stop on Wade Avenue between Martin Street and Main Street.
