
NAACP Image Awards nods go to ’12 Years a Slave,’ ‘Fruitvale Station’ in competitive year
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – In a year rich with black-oriented films, nominees for the NAACP Image Awards include “12 Years a Slave” and “Lee Daniels’ The Butler.”
The other contenders for outstanding motion picture announced Thursday include “Fruitvale Station,” ”Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom” and “The Best Man Holiday.”
Members of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People vote on the NAACP Image Awards, which honour diversity in the arts.
The awards will be presented in a Feb. 22 ceremony airing on the TV One cable channel.
