Sun Peaks Resort expects another record-breaking season

SUN PEAKS – Before the ski season ended this year, Sun Peaks Ski Resort had already reached a record-breaking milestone.

The ski resort reported 400,000 skier visits for the 2017-2018 season on April 12. The highest number of ski visitors they ever had.

“It was the week before we closed, we hit that record breaking number,” Rachel Roberts with Sun Peaks Tourism says.

The number does not include non-skier visits. Roberts says they will receive those numbers from the resort’s hotels at the end of the month.

Last year, the ski resort reported 390,000 skiers had passed through the 2016-2017 winter season, which was a new record compared to the year before.

The official number of visitors for the resort will be released once the total visits are counted for April. Roberts says they expect to be ahead of last year with non-skier visits as well.
