
Rutland fire forces four children and an adult from their home
KELOWNA – A house fire in Rutland has put an adult and four kids out of their home.
Kelowna Fire Department crews were able to confine the fire to the attic of the house in the 200 block of Cactus Road, platoon captain Kelly Stephens said in a press release, after a 911 call at 1:20 p.m. this afternoon.
Stephens said an unidentified adult and four children are under the care of Emergency Support Services after the fire, which was traced to a short circuit in an electric roof vent.
The occupants were not at home during the fire.
The fire department responded with three engines, Stephens said, while RCMP, B.C. Ambulance Services and Fortis B.C. along with the Technical Safety B.C.
