Three-legged cat has new lease on life

PENTICTON – Life has been rough for Chucky so far. Only a year old, the feline was found abandoned in Osoyoos, allegedly tossed from a second floor window.

Chucky ended up in the care of the B.C. SPCA in Penticton as a stray and x-rays showed she had suffered a pelvic fracture and a broken leg, Corinne Ross with the shelter says.

The vets at the Rose Valley Veterinary Hospital had no choice but to amputate the cat’s right, rear leg.

“Chucky is such a brave, lively girl. I can only imagine what she suffered before coming into our care, but she’s doing so amazing now,” Ross says. “I’d say she’s ready to embark on a tri-pawed life without looking back.”

She says the surgery was donated, but the shelter is looking for help to cover Chucky’s other medical costs, including x-rays, medication and post-op care.

Chucky is now looking for a suitable foster home while she recovers from her surgery, and after that, she’ll need a permanent loving home, says Ross.

If you want to help Chucky, contact the South Okanagan-Similkameen SPCA on line, call 250-493-0136 or visit in person at 2200 Dartmouth Dr. in Penticton.
