Goaltender Scrivens to make first start for Oilers tonight against Wild

EDMONTON – Ben Scrivens will make his first start in goal for his hometown team tonight when the Edmonton Oilers visit the Minnesota Wild.

The Oilers confirmed head coach Dallas Eakins’ decision on their Twitter account.

Edmonton acquired Scrivens, a native of Spruce Grove, Alta., from Los Angeles for a third-round draft pick on Wednesday.

Scrivens went 7-5-4 with a 1.97 goals-against average and .931 save percentage backing up Jonathan Quick in Los Angeles this season.

In a separate trade Wednesday, the Oilers sent Devan Dubnyk to Nashville for forward Matt Hendricks.

Dubnyk entered the season as the Oilers starter but struggled in the role, leading the team to sign veteran free agent Ilya Bryzgalov.
