UPDATE: Westside Road north of West Kelowna reopens

WEST KELOWNA – A section of the road between West Kelowna and Vernon on the west side of Okanagan Lake has reopened to a single lane following a landslide yesterday.

The landslide yesterday, May 1, caused a washout and forced the closure of Westside Road in the Ewings Landing area between Killiney Beach and Fintry this morning, but it has since reopened to single lane alternating traffic.

The Ministry of Transportation says an assessment continues.

There are two homes in Ewings Landing below Westside Road that are under an evacuation order, but so far no one has been asked to leave, according a release from the regional district Emergency Operation Centre.

The regional district says crews are evaluating and assessing the slope stability above the two properties.
